Our Story

Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Circle of Care, our mission is to provide vital practical, emotional, and financial support to families and their children, adolescents, and young adults navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Our unwavering vision is to ensure that no family, regardless of race, ethnicity, economic status, religion, or sexual orientation, bears the emotional or financial burdens of pediatric cancer alone. Cancer does not discriminate, and neither do we.

We are firmly committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that embraces all members of our community, including staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.

Circle of Care steadfastly upholds a policy of non-discrimination, refraining from any bias based on race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), physical or mental disability, intellectual disability, learning disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in all aspects of our operations. These facets encompass staff hiring and termination, volunteer and vendor selection, and the provision of our essential services.

Our dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is embedded in our organizational processes:

Community Engagement: Our Parent Advisory Board ensures program recipients have a meaningful voice in our decision-making processes.

Accessible Resources: We prioritize inclusivity by offering information in five languages on our website, broadening access to essential resources for our diverse client population.

Equity Outreach: We actively strive to achieve equitable access to supportive services by conducting targeted outreach to Community Health Centers to reach underserved and vulnerable communities.

We commit to regularly assessing our progress toward achieving our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals through an annual review conducted by our Board of Directors.

We firmly believe an equitable and inclusive organizational culture is fundamental to understanding our community's unique needs and magnifying our organization's impact. We purposefully cultivate and sustain a culture that embraces equity and inclusivity for our clients and employees, who represent diverse backgrounds and experiences.

At Circle of Care, all individuals seeking services are welcomed and served without regard to their immigration status, race, ethnicity, economic status, religion, or sexual orientation.
