#Imnotmycancer

- Inspiration -

Children with cancer are just kids — they don't want to be defined by their cancer.

We honor those living with cancer by providing a forum where they can be known for who they are, not the disease they have. Meet some children in our community, and understand how they’re more than their cancer:

  • I’m Heather. I’m a freshman at Quinnipiac University. I plan on pursuing a career in surgery or genetics. I love reading, hiking, and hanging out with my friends and my 2 dogs. I am a little over one year in remission and I am definitely NOT my cancer.

  • My name is Kemonnie (pictured right). My favorite color is pink. I love to ride my bike, and I love to swing and play on the slide. I also like to dance and swim. I am 7 years old, and I am NOT my cancer!

  • I just turned 4! I LOVE to play, spend time with my family, especially my big brother Noah. I’m so happy to be back in school and being outdoors. I spent most of the last last year in the hospital fighting brain cancer. It hasn’t stopped me, and I will NEVER GIVE UP!! My name is Ethan, and #iamNOTmycancer

  • I’m 10 years old. I like to spend time with my little brother and my friends playing games outside. In the summer, my parents take us to the beach where we play in the waves. In the winter, I like to ski. I also play soccer and swim for the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club. My name is Mateo. I may be in treatment for lymphoma, but I am NOT my cancer!

  • I’m a senior nursing student at Quinnipiac University hoping to pursue a career in pediatric oncology. I love volunteering, hanging out with my friends and family, going to the beach, and always finding time to laugh. I am blessed to be in remission for 7 years. I am Katie and I am NOT my cancer.

  • I am 9 years old and just started third grade. I am sort of known for my sense of humor and quick wit, and I love practical jokes – especially when they involve my sister! I also like hanging out with my friends, playing basketball and tennis, jumping on the trampoline, and hip hop. I am a huge New York Giants, Knicks and Rangers fan. I love animals and I would like to be a marine biologist when I am older. I’m Zach. I may have leukemia, but I’m NOT my cancer!

  • Hi! I’m 15 years old. I have 2 younger sisters and a dog. I just started my freshman year in high school. I play travel softball and I am in the women’s choir at school. I am almost 18 months in remission and I am a champion!! DONT STOP BELIEVING!! #vivstrong #fightlikeagirl #victory. I am Vivi, and I am NOT my cancer.

  • I am 16 years old. I have 2 brothers in college and I just started high school. I love to sing and dance to all the top hits especially Katy Perry, Pit Bull and Austin Mahone. This summer I was in the musical “Annie” and I just joined the high school cheerleading team. Go! Fight! Win! I’m Catherine and I’m NOT my cancer

  • I was diagnosed in April 2009 with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. I have been in remission for 5 years and like to help others during their battles. During my battle, I remember Circle of Care sending a package to the hospital. I still have a pillow made by a Girl Scout troop sent in that package.

I am a Junior at Sacred Heart High School, love sports and want to have a sports debate show on ESPN. I have a YouTube channel where my friend and I host “Second Take” and debate the latest about sports. My favorite place to be is at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. I hope to be an LIT next year. My name is Trent, and I’m NOT my cancer!

  • I am 10 years old and I have a big sister and a little brother. I love playing with them. One of my favorite places in the world is the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. I have made a lot of friends there. Camp is a place where I forget about the cancer and I can just be me and have fun! I’m also happy to be back in school this year with my friends! My name is Lexi, and I am NOT my cancer.

  • I am 8 years old, and I am in the second grade. I love my big sister Charlie, who is 10. I love playing sports and playing with my friends. I am funny and I like to laugh. My name is Eli, and I’m NOT my cancer.
