What is your professional experience? Why did you choose to get involved with Circle of Care?
Katarina is an RN and is currently the Executive Director of the Inn at Waveny, an independent living community in New Canaan, CT. When her son Oliver was 10, he was diagnosed with cancer, and Circle of Care stepped in to help. Katarina was moved by the support her family received and wanted to give back. When Oliver's treatment was over, she joined our board
What do you do with Circle of Care? How do you feel your professional experience provides value as a board member at Circle of Care?
Katarina is always eager to help out in any way she can. She's been an active team member on multiple dream room makeovers for children undergoing treatment as part of our Art from the Heart program. She's also helped organize several events, such as a "gold out" at a New Canaan High School football game and decoration of the Vine Cottage in New Canaan to create awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Katarina has also sat on our golf committee. Her experience as a nurse and with her son's diagnosis has given her a unique ability to connect with other families going through the cancer journey.
What do you do in your free time?
Katarina values a healthy lifestyle. She continues to educate herself on healthy living and stays active through exercise, yoga, long walks, tennis, and playing with her two dogs. She also enjoys exploring farmer's markets and has lately become obsessed with the game Rummikub.
