What is your professional experience? Why did you choose to get involved with Circle of Care?
Missy worked clinically in pediatrics for 11 years, first as a registered nurse and then as a social worker. In both roles, she spent considerable time caring for children battling cancer. She then worked in medical technology for Abbott for 12 years, training doctors, nurses, and patients on new medical devices. However, her lifelong passion has always been helping children, so she joined Circle of Care because of the variety of hands-on opportunities available to help children in need.
What do you do with Circle of Care? How do you feel your professional experience provides value as a board member at Circle of Care?
Missy has used her extensive experience in pediatrics to facilitate our Financial Assistance Program. She's worked directly with many of our families to help them receive critical financial aid to pay their non-medical expenses while their child was in treatment. Missy also developed our hospital volunteer program, where she trained numerous volunteers over the years to comfort children and provide respite to families while at the hospital.
What do you do in your free time?
Missy rowed crew for 30 years of her adult life, into her 60's! She is also an avid skier and hiker. Originally from Utah, Missy considers herself both a Westerner and an Easterner, dividing much of her time between Utah and Connecticut.
