What is your professional experience? Why did you choose to get involved with Circle of Care?
Christina is a partner at the law firm Berkowitz and Hanna LLC, based in Stamford, CT. She has been practicing law for 23 years and is the head of her firm's personal injury division. She first heard of Circle of Care when she saw an article about how we threw a drive-by parade to celebrate a pediatric cancer patient's end of treatment during COVID. As a mother eager to help her community, she was inspired to get involved.
What do you do with Circle of Care? How do you feel your professional experience provides value as a board member at Circle of Care?
Christina started as a volunteer, helping with our Bags of Love program and sitting on our gala committee. Since joining our board, she has helped organize numerous events and fundraising activities, including a "gold out" at a New Canaan High School football game and the decoration of New Canaan's Vine Cottage to promote Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. She's also served on our golf and Education Award committees and has organized a Valentine's Day fundraiser at local hockey games. Christina has helped expand our presence across the New Canaan community, creating awareness and building new relationships. As a lawyer, Christina has spent her career advocating for people who aren't heard, and this is evident in the empathy and compassion she shows in helping our Circle.
What do you do in your free time?
When she's not working or helping Circle of Care, Christina enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading fiction and staying up to date on current events. Most recently, she is determined to become as good as her husband at golfing!
