Tegan’s Dream Room Makeover

When 11-year-old Tegan was diagnosed with leukemia, much of

her life became filled with decisions made by others—appointments, treatments, procedures, and schedules. That’s one reason why her Art From the Heart room makeover was so meaningful. Throughout the design process, Tegan was encouraged to share her ideas and help shape a space that felt uniquely her own. After the reveal, her mom shared that Tegan’s favorite part of the experience was having input and control. “Tegan is over the moon,” she told us. “Seeing her smile is such a gift.”

“The best part of this room is the joy it brings to Tegan during this difficult time... from brainstorming, to visualizing it... and now she gets to live in a room that sparks her joy every day!” - Tegan’s mom Diana

While Tegan and her family enjoyed a special daycation to New York City to visit the Arte Museum, volunteers transformed her room into a vibrant reflection of her creative spirit. Color-drenched in bright cobalt blue, the space features LED light strips, a new desk, and wall decals gifted by Tegan’s favorite artist Jen Stark. Her mom said the room captured the essence of her personality perfectly. Art From the Heart creates more than beautiful rooms—it creates spaces where children can simply be themselves and find comfort, joy, and a sense of normalcy during treatment.
